Last October I arrived in San Salvador to help coordinate an international electoral observation mission at CIS, the Center for Exchange and Solidarity http://cis-elsalvador.org/en.html.
I now coordinate the scholarship program for the Sisters of Providence. In return for a monthly scholarship, the 14-24 year old students participate in youth groups and do community service projects. My job is to hold all 60 of them accountable, lead the youth group meetings, and keep track of finances. I will report here the trials and successes of working in rural El Salvador.
I also participate in solidarity work in Honduras. I attended a delegation with Witness for Peace http://www.witnessforpeace.org/. I was especially impressed by Radio Progreso, the only anti-coup radio station that has managed to stay on the air since the coup http://www.radioprogresohn.org/, so I will be accompanying them during the "elections" to be held November 28.
