Let the journey begin...

Just as any revolutionary sets out to achieve quick and thorough transformation, I am jumping into a new life experience.

Seattle has been amazing and I cannot tell my people here how much I love them. As I sit in Cafe Vita, for the last time for a long time, I reflect upon the nearly four years I have called Seattle my home. I remember how intimidated I felt by the hipness of the city and the people who seemed to have important things to do and I realize that I became one of those people in more ways than one because of the people I encountered here. First, I learned that everyone is hip in different ways and that fashion has little to do with it. I thank my friends, *especially* those who I have found in the last couple months for letting me feel hip with them as we walked along the beaches of Lake Washington, or through the streets of Capitol Hill, just to appreciate what an amazing place we live in together. Second, I found important things to do that matter both to me and to those around me. I have to thank Spruce Street School, Seattle University, CISPES and the Weil Family for showing me that my work and my life do matter in our society. Having come to realize these things about myself, I feel prepared to throw myself into another unsure and somewhat chaotic period of my existence.

Tomorrow I set off to Ashland, OR to visit my younger brother, Morgan. As much as I would like to share my itinerary, it is yet to be planned. I know I will be in LA for a few days between Aug 9 and 15, and I will be in Santa Fe between Aug 15 and Aug 22. Then I will be going through Mexico, but I don't know how or at what pace. Those wanting to meet me somewhere along the way, feel free to jump in at whatever point.

By the beginning of October, I will arrive in El Salvador where I will be volunteering for the six months leading up to their presidential elections. Contact me personally for more information about the position I am taking.

In the meantime, subscribe to this blog so that you can stay up to date on my adventure! If you write to me, I will certainly write back, but it is also fun to post comments where my other contacts can read them too. Recommendations and connections are more than welcome.
